The bridge to Mobile stretches from the shores of this city, named for a Spanish fort from the Revolutionary war. It’s also home to ecological wonders as part of the Mobile Bay Delta.

Spanish Fort has a population of about 8,300, which is an increase of more than a 1,000 from 2010. The small city is known as a bedroom community and it has among the best performing schools in Baldwin County.

The grounds are the site of the last major battle of the Civil War and also has remnants of the early Alabama town of Blakely, colonial era homes, and Native American settlements going back thousands of years.

Parks, Trails, and Boating

Five rivers and a pair of state parks are in the small town of Spanish Fort, providing plenty opportunities for fishing, boating, hunting, history and other outdoor activities. Meaher State Park has 1,327 acres and visitors can go on a guided tour along a boardwalk into Mobile Delta or take advantage of fishing piers.
